PROFILE
Maxin has long had a reputation as one of Kirkcaldy's finest dining places and now an extension and complete refurbishment of the spacious interior further establishes its reputation.
The renovation project has increased Maxin's capacity to over 30 tables but still manages to retain the calm and intimate atmosphere of old.
Expansion into what used to be a next door shop has created a brand new reception area and bar, where customers can enjoy a drink
before a meal or while waiting for a carry out - always a popular side of Maxin's business. The main dining room has undergone a complete
makeover of decor and interior design and more efficient use of space has resulted in the addition of more tables.
Two new dining rooms have been opened, one downstairs (the "Gold Room") providing an ideal hideaway for a small, private function or an
authentic Chinese banquet. The other new room is upstairs, complete with a superb skydome in the roof. There are now 5 dining rooms, with
seating available for over 120 people.
The staff at Maxin pay close attention to the needs and comfort of the customers, serving food that is second to none. Eating Chinese no
longer has the exotic touch of adventure it had for an earlier generation, but the menu at Maxin doesn't stop moving;
there is always something new to tempt customers.
Proprietors Tom and Perdy Wong have run the restaurant for the past 10 years and know that a reputation in the restaurant business isn't maintained by standing still; they retain strong links with Hong Kong and return regularly to check out what's new.
"We always have new dishes because we are always going back to the source. Many people will still come in to the restaurant
and ask for the old favourites, and we still do those, but I think a lot of diners are more adventurous now and we like to always
have something new, something a little bit different." - Owner, Tom Wong
